Have you ever noticed people call everything a "bug"? A bug is a type of arthropod, but so are crabs, shrimp, spiders, butterflies, ants, amphipds, millipedes & more! But what do they all have in common? What makes them so different? What exactly is an arthropod??? Join us to find out all about these diverse, small creatures that make up most of the animals on the planet! They are some of the most fascinating critters that scientists love to study and fiction writers base some of their wildest creatures on... Grades 1st-MS, 90 minutes

A unique opportunity for students to create a comet! First we will take a stroll through the universe into our galaxy... learn about what's out there... Then find out first-hand about these mysterious intergalactic coma bodies, or as some call them...dirty snowballs. We turn your students into Astronomers who dive into the Oort Cloud to better understand how a comet is created! What better way to understand comet behavior than a true hands-on experience! Dry ice will need to be purchased the day of the program. Grades 1st-MS, 90 minutes.

What's the first thing that comes to mind when someone says "desert"? Dry... Hot... Desolate... Cactus... These words can describe some deserts, but they are so much more than that! Wildlife biologists will act as "Desert Detectives" to learn about the different types of deserts all over the world, but more importantly, the ones right here in the US! We will then hone in on one of the most biologically diverse deserts in the world for some interactive activities. This special desert might be your backyard, but if not, it is easy enough to travel to.... do you know which one that is? Come find out! Grades 1st-MS, 90 minutes.

The Earth is an amazing planet! So much life exists today and scientists believe that even more life has already gone extinct. Join us on a series of interactive programs going through the various phylums and classes of the Animal Kingdom. National Geographic and the Discovery channels have incredible images and videos - but we will pull information from the pluthera sites out there - both beautiful and scientific - to go through and understand the variety of life aroud us. These aren't "sit and watch" programs, but inquiry-based and participation is required! Series Programs: Awesome Amphibians, Beautiful Birds, Fabulous Fish, Marvelous Mammals, and Remarkable Reptiles. Grades K-MS; Each program is 1-session, 90 minutes and a "journal" will be emailed to registrants.

From tiny to gigantic, animals intrigue us. In this program you will learn the differences between the different vertebrae classes and what makes each unique and special. Participate in interactive activities that will have you coming back for more. We have condensed & combined the Earth's Creatures Series down to a full-of-information-&-fun 90 minutes of animal diversity! Grades K-MS

A fun-filled, hands-on paleontology AND geology experience! Participants will go through the steps of becoming a paleontologist and a geologist. They will not only learn how to identify fossils and gems, but how they are formed, where they are found, and where can they go find some tomorrow! With journal in hand, like all good scientists, they will record as they go. After uncovering their Earth's treasures, participants will not only be able to curate their findings, but also restore and make a shark tooth necklace and a piece of gem jewelry! All major supplies provided, including fossils and gems! Common supplies and optional materials will need to be provided by the individual (please contact us for more information). Grades 2nd-MS, 5-sessions, 90 minutes each session. Registration 2 weeks prior to the course is needed for shipping.

Civil engineers learn about the different types of bridges that are utilized every day and which forces act upon them that engineers have to contend with when constructing a bridge. The best part though is taking this knowledge and putting it into practice to build their own bridge. Civil engineers will have to follow certain protocols in designing and budgeting for their bridge like real engineers! They will then test their bridges for how much weight they can hold. Grades 2nd-MS, 90 minutes.

Have you never been fishing and want to learn? Have very limited experience? Want to see how easy it is to go fishing? We will go over detailed fishing basics - sounds like an oxymoron..., but we will cover ethical angling, types of fishing, equipment, knot tying, safety, etiquette, regulations, casting and more! Call it a sport, a hobby or a life skill – either way, anyone can go fishing. Besides the information and fish tales, a small starter tackle box is included! All major supplies provided. (Combos not included) Grades 3rd-HS, 5-sessions, 90 minutes each session. Registration 2 weeks prior to the course is needed for shipping.

We may not be able to travel and excavate our own t-rex skeleton or dive for megalodon teeth, but we can still become Paleontologists! This interactive experience will leave you wanting to plan your next trip to go looking for your own fossils. In many areas throughout the US you can find fossils right there in your own backyard - but how do you know what to look for? How can you differentiate it from just a rock or phosphate pebble? Join us find answers to many of your questions and see what you can do to make your own specimens and display. Grades 1st-MS, 90 minutes.

You've heard of people becoming "Rock Hounds" - but did you know that not everything is a rock? A lot of people make that mistake... but... as a Geologists, you will learn the difference between a rock and a mineral and how and why they are formed. The most exciting part is that you will also learn how to tell them apart using various characteristics and tests - why exciting? Because then you can use that info to travel throughout the US - yes, there are special rocks and minerals in every state - to go find your own! We will teach you through interactive activities how to become not just a geologist, but even a gemologist (specializing in the gemstones everyone loves). Grades 1st-MS, 90 minutes.

Obviously wetlands are "wet-land" - but there is more to it than that! Wildlife biologists will learn about the different kinds of wetlands and why they are so important. We will then focus on one of the best wetlands in the world - it isn't the biggest, but it is quite unique with so many ecosystems and habitats all within its "greater" boundaries... and it is all ours, right here in the USA! Join us for some interactive activities to walk on the wild side for 90 minutes! Grades 1st-MS

Rocket Engineers will blast through history to better understand why we have the rockets of today. Throughout the world and over 2000 years, the discovery of steam, gun powder, fuel and of course Sir Isaac Newton all had a part in where NASA is today with our space program. Rocket engineers will design, build and launch these early engine and rockets. (A list of minimal supplies needed for each participant will be provided when booked.) Grades 1st-MS, 90 minutes.

So much water... so little time! Although water covers almost three quarters of our planet and it provides the majority of what we need to survive, it is actually quite understudied. We will fix that! From the shallow shores to the deepest depths there is plenty for us to explore. We only have 90 minutes, but we will make the most of it using interactive activities to learn about the water, habitats, and some of the animals that call it home. After we are done, Marine Biologists will have a better understanding on why it is so important for us all to be better ocean stewards and conserve this spectacular place on Earth. Grades 1st-MS
