Job Summary:

In-The-Field

Our main field program is the Everglades Experience. The instructor may set up our area for the group’s arrival or begin at the school & ride the bus with the participants. It includes checking paperwork, organizing & keeping students safe, teaching information & collecting data, riding on an airboat, and slogging (walking through plants & water)! The other field program we do on occasion is the Coastal Exploration. This takes place at the beach and includes the same basic in-the-field work except slogging, but does include sein netting. Both are an all-school-day program, sometimes extended school days.

In-The-Class

In-School topics may include Earth (geology, paleontology, meteorology, space), physics & engineering, life (environmental, conservation, ecology, senses), and social (American Indian) sciences. These in-class field trips are usually 1-1.5 hours long each and may be half-a-day, or throughout the entire school day.
